Arbitrum Foundation Launches $216M Gaming Fund to Attract Developers
Major move to cement Arbitrum’s role as a top GameFi blockchain platform.

The Arbitrum Foundation has just announced a massive new initiative to position its ecosystem at the forefront of Web3 gaming. On August 1st, the Foundation unveiled a $216 million Gaming Catalyst Program, aimed at drawing game developers and studios to the Arbitrum, Orbit, and Stylus chains.
The proposal, which was passed with community approval, allocates 225 million ARB tokens over a three-year period. The funds will be deployed to support both established and emerging game projects through grants and investments. This move is seen as a strategic attempt to boost user activity, NFT interaction, and developer engagement within the ecosystem.
The Gaming Catalyst Program is structured to:
-
Provide direct funding to high-potential game developers
-
Onboard games built on Arbitrum’s Layer 2 tech, including Stylus smart contracts
-
Offer marketing, infrastructure, and ecosystem support
-
Partner with gaming DAOs and venture studios
According to the Foundation, 160 million ARB will be designated for grants, while the remaining 65 million ARB will be managed by a dedicated Gaming Catalyst Committee.
The crypto gaming community has responded positively, especially as GameFi activity continues to grow in 2025. Top GameFi titles like Parallel, Illuvium, and TreasureDAO have already expressed interest in collaborating with the program.
Some community members see this fund as a necessary step to compete with Immutable, Ronin, and other Layer 2 chains already hosting major gaming projects.
Arbitrum’s momentum is also helped by the upcoming Stylus upgrade, which allows devs to write smart contracts in traditional languages like C, C++, and Rust—potentially making onboarding easier for Web2-native developers.
This isn’t just a one-off marketing stunt. The initiative is backed by clear KPIs including:
-
Developer retention metrics
-
Game usage statistics
-
Player acquisition rates
-
Token velocity across GameFi apps
The Foundation aims to make Arbitrum the most developer-friendly gaming chain in the Web3 space by 2026.
